As a fellow Investor and Real Estate Broker I would agree that it is very important to have another set of eyes look at a property. Do not inherit someones problem. The money you save from staying out of a bad deal far out ways the money you lose from missing a costly repair. Even Worse a piece of property you cant sell. Put together a team that can inspect the property for you, A home inspector, electrician, roofer and plumber even structural engineer. That way if the home inspector finds a problem you know who to call next. Our company offers free inspections for all roofing needs. Trivanroofing.com or 877-4Trivan

Hi, I agree - investing in property doesn't have to mean you stick to your local suburb. A great deal is a great deal - even if it is in another country. Take Australia for example, where the situation is one of high demand and low supply. They have a residential property shortage with record immigration. Why not take advantage of something like that instead of waiting out your own local property market cycle?

The only caveat - and you mentioned it too - is that of doing your own due diligence. But this applies to local investments as well as those you may make internationally.

I say, go for it and be rewarded.
